Student Life

Once you have been accepted to Calvary Chapel Bible College Seattle you can expect to become a part of the 35-year ministry of Calvary Fellowship Church to the Seattle region. Calvary Chapel Bible College Seattle is integrated into a living, breathing, fully functional church body made up of all ages. Weekly over 1500 adults actively worship and call this church home. Calvary Fellowship Church seeks to enrich the communities in which it operates and has successfully planted over 30 churches domestically and abroad as well.

Currently Calvary Chapel Bible College Seattle is housed at the Calvary Fellowship Church main campus in Mountlake Terrace, Washington, and has campuses in the Seattle neighborhoods of Wallingford and Capitol Hill. CCBC Seattle also enjoys the fellowship of many other Calvary Chapel churches and affiliates from around the region.

What to Expect

As a new student to Calvary Chapel Bible College Seattle you can expect our teachers and staff to instruct you according to the vision of this school. Remember, our main purpose is to train students to grow in relationship with God and His church.

Therefore, we expect you to follow Jesus in life and grow closer and more like Him. This may mean laying aside things you feel are necessary, or humbling yourself when you may not be wrong, but we know that Jesus Christ calls us all to follow Him if we are to be his disciples. We also expect you to accept uncomfortable situations where serving in a church or organization may not be preferred or ideal, but realizing that having a giving attitude versus a taking attitude is the very nature of Jesus, a servant. Finally we expect you to perform at your best academically. CCBC Seattle provides a challenging atmosphere that may seem overwhelming or discouraging at times, but we have found that those who persevere and put forth effort academically reap significant growth.

CCBC Seattle Distinctions

Calvary Chapel Bible College Seattle follows Calvary Chapel Bible College Murrieta’s standards for graduation. But, like many of the affiliate campuses, we offer our own flavor. Other than enjoying a close-knit relationship with Calvary Fellowship Church, CCBC Seattle offers distinct classes and opportunities:

Practical Christian Ministry – M199 (4 semesters total required to graduate)

As noted in the Course Catalog, the M199 class offers behind-the-scenes and active involvement with different ministries and organizations. At the beginning of each semester the administrative staff places a student with a church or organization for the duration of the semester (If you would like to request a particular church or area, please inform the administration staff prior to the semester). What makes the M199 class distinct at CCBC Seattle is the active involvement with ministries and organizations outside of CCBC Seattle. For example, CCBC Seattle has adopted and regularly cleans a park across the street from the campus. In fact, the administrative staff organizes different events in addition to our regular weekly M199 responsibilities where everyone is able to volunteer.

Men’s & Women’s Discipleship (required for on-campus students)

While this may not be a distinction from many affiliate Campuses, the Men’s and Women’s Discipleship classes provide CCBC Seattle administration with a chance to actively disciple each student. The Deans of Men and Women desire to see the truth students receive in each of their classes assimilated into attitudes, habits, and lifestyles. This happens by dividing the students by gender for studies through a book of the Bible. During these studies students find real accountability, specific prayer, and build friendships important in the future. (Two Additional Bible or two Elective credits per semester)

Public Devotional Speaking – PDS (required for on-campus students)

Unique to the CCBC Seattle campus, each student is offered the opportunity to participate in Public Devotional Speaking. The PDS curriculum is divided by semester. If you attend all four semesters at CCBC Seattle, you will have taught through two New Testament books. This class is challenging to those who do not enjoy public speaking, but by the end of the semester, those students often call it their best class. (One Elective credit per semester)

Koinania (required for full time and on-campus students)

Once a week all the students gather together for breakfast, announcements, and communion. This time is a great reminder to look to Christ, who alone is sufficient. We will remember His sacrifice and that we are part of a larger body of Christ. (One Elective credit per semester)

Church Service Attendance (required for on-campus students)

One of the unique aspects of CCBC Seattle is that it is an integral part of a living church made up of all ages. One of the goals of CCBC Seattle is to successfully integrate college students into the full expression of the church. Therefore, Sunday church attendance is required. There are four Sunday services to choose from, with attendance at only one service required. These services are:

  • 9:00am Sunday morning service at the Mountlake Terrace campus
  • 10:00am Sunday morning service at the Wallingford campus
  • 11:00am Sunday morning service at the Mountlake Terrace campus
  • 5:00pm Sunday evening service at the Capitol Hill campus
  • 7:00pm Sunday evening service (CREW) at the Mountlake Terrace campus

Northwest Pastors Conference (required for full-time and on-campus students during the Fall semester)

Early in the Fall semester, CCBC Seattle takes a 2 day break from classes to take part in the study of God’s Word with Christian leaders. This conference is an exciting time to worship and learn with hundreds of leaders from around the Northwest region. Attendance at the Northwest Pastor Conference is mandatory for fulltime students. The cost for the Northwest Pastors Conference is included in full-time tuition. Part-time students are encouraged to attend.

CCBC Seattle Retreat (required for full-time and on-campus students)

Before each semester starts we take all full-time and on-campus students away for a short retreat. This time away allows us to cover school policy, begin PDS classes, and get to know one another before the semester starts. You will need bedding, a small travel bag, toiletries, notebook and a Bible for the retreat.
