All the required courses listed below are offered at the Calvary Chapel Bible College Seattle campus every year. Students take two calendar years to complete the four-semester, 80-credit program.
Required classes may typically be taken in any order the student desires, with the obvious exception of classes that build on each other. (For example, the Bible Survey classes which start in Genesis and work their way through to the end in Revelation.)

OT310 | Genesis (3 credits REQ)
This is a verse-by-verse study of the book of Genesis. It will be an in-depth study of this book of origins, with emphasis on the foundational doctrines of Christianity.
NT310 | Gospel of Matthew (3 credits REQ)
This course is a verse-by-verse study of the Gospel of Matthew, with specific emphasis of the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ and on His claim to be the Messiah. Students will be blessed by this in-depth study, coming to the inescapable conclusion that Christ is the King. Fulfills Gospel Requirement. Any additional Gospel fulfills Additional Core Bible Classes credits or Elective Course credit.
NT352 | Gospel of Mark (3 credits REQ)
This course is a verse-by-verse study of the Gospel of Mark. The class emphasizes Jesus as the servant of the Lord and will relate the whole gospel to its key verse, “For even the son of man did not come to be served but to serve and give his life a ransom for many.” Mark 10:45. Fulfills Gospel Requirement. Any additional Gospel fulfills Additional Core Bible Classes credits or Elective Course credit.
NT353 | Gospel of Luke (3 credits REQ)
This course is a verse-by-verse study of the Gospel of Luke. Students will study Jesus as the perfect man and Savior, and will come to a better understanding of who Jesus is from Luke’s particular perspective. Fulfills Gospel Requirement. Any additional Gospel fulfills Additional Core Bible Classes credits or Elective Course credit.
NT320 | Gospel of John (3 credits REQ)
This course is a verse-by-verse study of the Gospel of John. Students will study the theology of the Gospel of John along with an in-depth look at the Person and Work of Jesus Christ, specifically at John’s portrayal of Him in His deity as the Son of God. Fulfills Gospel Requirement. Any additional Gospel fulfills Additional Core Bible Classes credits or Elective Course credit.
NT330 | Acts (3 credits REQ)
This course is a verse-by-verse study of the Book of Acts, a book regarded as the second volume of a two-part work by Luke. Students will study in-depth the Early Church, with particular reference to the words of Jesus Christ: “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” Acts 1:8
NT340 | Romans (3 credits REQ)
This course is a verse-by-verse study of the book of Romans, a book long regarded as the most systematic presentation of doctrine in the Bible. Students will consider in-depth the doctrines of grace, forgiveness, salvation, and Paul’s practical exhortation to Christ-likeness in life and ministry.
NT377 | Revelation (with an introduction in Daniel) (3 credits REQ)
This course is a verse-by-verse study of the books of Daniel and Revelation. Daniel could be called “Amazing Prophecies and Amazing Acts of God.” Students will also complete an in-depth expositional examination of the exciting book of Revelation, which focuses very clearly on the person of Jesus Christ, His epistles to the seven churches, and the forthcoming unveiling of events that “Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written in it; for the time is near” (Revelation 1:3).
Five additional Bible classes (15 credits required)
These classes represent all of the “non-required” Bible Classes we have offered in the past two years. Typically these classes are 3 credits each; otherwise they will be 2 credits. We may at any time offer additional Bible books or different book combinations beyond this offering to fulfill the additional needed classes. Please consult the current semester schedule for the most current information.
OT380 | Joshua and Judges
This course is a verse-by-verse study of the books of Joshua and Judges. The books go together as in one we see God’s faithfulness in giving the promise land to Israel just as he had said (Joshua 23:14), and in the other we see Israel’s continual unfaithfulness both in their failure to conquer the resident foreigners and in forsaking God to worship the gods of the Land. In the midst of their unfaithfulness, students will learn that God continues to be faithful in carrying out it plan to bring the Messiah.
OT371 | 1 Samuel and 2 Samuel
This course is a verse-by-verse study of the books of 1 Samuel and 2 Samuel. It gives the History of Israel from the birth of Samuel to right before the death of David. Students will learn about the kings we choose for ourselves versus the King that God chooses. Even God’s choice, David has flaws and so students will experience with Israel the longing for a perfect King that is only fulfilled in Christ.
OT361 | Ruth and Esther
This course is a verse-by-verse study of the books of Ruth and Esther. Both of these books focus on God’s goodness and providence. In Ruth, students will see how God works to provide a king (much needed in the times of the Judges) and in Esther, how God works to protect His people.
OT327 | Job
This course is a verse-by-verse study of the book of Job. This book begins by exploring the questions of human suffering. As students continue to study the book they will both be exposed to the weak and insufficient arguments that man makes to rationalize suffering and by the end of the book, come to realize that even if why we suffer remains a mystery, God’s goodness in all circumstances may be trusted.
OT329 | Proverbs
This course is a verse-by-verse study of the book of Proverbs, which exhorts us to live in the fear of God, the beginning of wisdom (Proverbs 1:7). Students will be exposed to what this looks like practically in all areas of life.
OT330 | Ecclesiastes
This course is a verse-by-verse study of the book of Ecclesiastes. The author explores the possibility of meaning and joy apart from a relationship with God and discovers that all is empty. Students will be exposed to the futility of all of man’s philosophies, along with the goodness of finding meaning and joy in God.
OT331 | Song of Solomon
This course is a verse-by-verse study of the book of Song of Solomon. In extremely poetic imagery, this book looks at the most intimate human relationship, that between husband and wife. In their study, students will not only learn about God’s plan for intimacy in marriage, but also discover the love of God this relationship is created to reflect.
OT359 | The Books of the Minor Prophets
This course is a verse-by-verse study of the Minor Prophets (Hosea through Malachi). The students will be exposed to the foundation of biblical eschatology as well as a review of Israel’s history with God – namely, his faithfulness and their unfaithfulness.
NT361 | 1 Corinthians and 2 Corinthians
This course is a verse-by-verse study of the books of 1 Corinthians and 2 Corinthians. In these letters we learn much about both Paul as a minister and also much about the problems (and respective solutions) of the church in Corinth. Students will be encouraged to develop a heart like Paul’s in serving the Lord and also understand how that plays out in the setting of the local church.
NT408 | Galatians and James
This course is a verse-by-verse study of the books of Galatians and James, with a close examination of the doctrine of salvation: God’s role in salvation, our role in salvation, and how these important doctrines apply practically to all areas of our lives. Students will examine both the book of Galatians and its emphasis on justification by faith and the book of James with its seemingly contradictory statement “a man is justified by works, and not by faith only.”
NT360 | Ephesians
This course is a verse-by-verse study of the book of Ephesians, Paul’s letter which focuses on all that Christians have available to them in Christ in the Heavenly places (Ephesians 1:3). Students will gain a better understanding of God’s gracious work of salvation from beginning to end.
NT424 | Ephesians and Colossians
This course is a verse-by-verse study of the books of Ephesians and Colossians. It seeks to emphasis the unity in these sister letters as well as draw out their distinctions, particularly in regards to the Christian’s life in Christ (Ephesians) and the mystery of Christ in us (Colossians).
NT422 | The Pauline Pastoral and Thessalonian Epistles
This course is a verse-by-verse study of the books of 1 Thessalonians and 2 Thessalonians, 1 Timothy and 2 Timothy, and Titus. Students will undertake in-depth practical study of Paul’s instruction specifically in regards to the theology of the church and its practical issues.
NT375 | Pastoral Epistles
This course is a verse-by-verse study of the books of 1 and 2 Timothy and Titus. Students will undertake in-depth practical study of Paul’s instruction to these young pastors on issues ranging from church doctrine and church government to the Word of God and the men of God.
NT369 | Hebrews and Leviticus
This course is a verse-by-verse study of the book of Hebrews, supplemented with a study of Leviticus. It seeks to relate the Levitical law to its fulfillment in the person and work of Jesus Christ. In doing so it demonstrates the complementary nature of the Old and New Testament.
NT399 | 1 Peter and 2 Peter
This course is a verse-by verse study of the books of 1 Peter and 2 Peter. These letters focus on the trials and temptation of the Christian Life and calls believers to faithfully trust in God’s goodness and sovereignty.

TH363 | Introduction to Apologetics (2 credits REQ)
This course is an introduction to defending Christianity. It is also an introduction to world religions and cults. Students will be equipped to dialogue with others from these backgrounds and defend historical Christianity.
TH401 | Introduction to Hermeneutics (2 credits REQ)
This course is an introduction to biblical interpretation. It seeks both to lay a foundation of interpretive principles as well as equip students with the skills needed to interpret the Bible.
TH301 | Introduction to Biblical Theology (2 credits REQ)
In this class we will study some basic truths of biblical theology, including issues the Lord has characteristically and distinctively used in Calvary Chapel ministries and how basic Bible doctrines pertain to Calvary Chapel teaching.
CH301 | Introduction to Church History (2 credits REQ)
This course is an overview of the history of Christianity from the book of Acts to the present. It seeks to give an understanding of the great movements of Christianity and the development of Christian thought.
MI301 | Introduction to Missiology (2 credits REQ)
This course is an introduction to the theology of God’s mission and what this means practically for the church. Its goal is both to lay a foundation of who God is and what he is doing (mission) as well as apply that to the purpose and goal of the church (missions).

Practical Christian Ministry: (4 semesters total)
CM199 | Practical Christian Service (REQ)
This course provides opportunities to actively serve in behind-the-scenes ministry in local churches and organizations. Local pastors or organizations take on a group of students who through hours of weekly service, gain both a better understanding of how a church or an organization operates, along with developing a heart of service. On-campus students are required to take the 2-credit class serving for 8 hours per week. Off campus students are required to take the 1-credit class serving for 4 hours per week to meet the requirements. Grade for this class relies heavily on attendance.

LA099 | Public Devotional Speaking Required for on-campus students
This course seeks to equip students to communicate what they are learning in the Bible through weekly short-form teaching assignments. Each week, students and the teacher provide constructive criticism in order to help the students improve in their ability to communicate God’s Word.
CL107 | Koinania Required for full-time and on-campus students
This course creates a touch point for the college as a whole. Faculty, staff and students gather together for a meal, a short devotion, and communion. Students learn how to function as a body of believers united in Christ and seek the good of one another.
OT391 | Christ in the Old Testament (2 credits)
This course is a study of The Messiah as portrayed in the Old Testament. Messianic Prophecies, Messianic Typologies, and Christophanies will all be analyzed and mined in order to display that Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever. (Hebrews 13:8)
TH390 | Inductive Bible Study (2 credits)
This course is designed to have students dig into the Word of God to search for its context, interpretation, and application. In addition to understanding the Biblical text, we will also learn how to verbally communicate the Word to others.
TH311 | The History of Redemption (2 credits)
This course is an introduction to the overall content of the Bible. This will primarily be accomplished by looking at the whole plan of God’s redemption from Genesis to Revelation.
PT327 | Homiletics Practicum Hour (2 credits) Prerequisite: Introduction to Hermeneutics
This course seeks to equip students to prepare a sermon based upon a text of Scripture. It emphasizes expositional preaching and walks students through preparing a sermon, beginning with understanding the text and ending with a fully prepared message.
